Why Do You Colocation Your Computer Centre?
Data backup, recovery and archiving services are the basic reasons many companies opt for colocation. They automatically expect seamless servers fed by seamless power and air conditioning along with iron clad security in a high tech state of the art environment. But take away all the amenities that they provide for you and your equipment and you left with data handling.
Many smaller businesses consider colocation to be a big data back up cloud to be used as a giant hard drive in the sky. Nothings wrong with that but that can be some expensive back up when you consider them in that light. Colocation data centre’s are meant to relieve all the server farm tensions that can clog or slow a business process.
If you using colocation rack space for backup, maybe its time to think about packing up your server room and shipping it off to a new home. Maybe the old data centre space would make a nice new employee lounge or executive bathroom space? What ever you do with it you won’t miss it.
You won’t miss the equipment upgrades, the power outages, the lack of ISP offerings etc etc. All those things that occupy your mind will be removed by being in a colocation situation where they can offer experts to worry about the data centre for you at less than the cost of any feasible in house implementation.
